A.M.E. Church Bridge to Financial Freedom
Step 3: Learn to be good to yourself financially!
“Most people are wise, you need to learn to be otherwise… Otherwise, you will never learn how to increase your finances.” –Zebedee Stephens
“He who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will supply and multiply your seed for sowing and increase the harvest of your righteousness.” –2 Corinthians 9:10
Tithing is biblical. If we give 10% to God, why not give 10% to yourself? God made us in His image, so that means that we are really spiritual beings. Our spiritual beings are housed in our human bodies. Every believer has to learn to bring forth the spiritual woman or spiritual man that God has placed in your human body. Jeremiah 1:5 says, “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you; I appointed you a prophet to the nations.”
It seems we are missing the most important part. Since God made us in His image, we should be doing the things that God teaches in His Word. It is time for you to take care of yourself, using the biblical teachings of God! Tithing is biblical. Tithing to God is biblical. So, tithing to yourself is also biblical! It does not matter how much money you make or the size of your salary. Always remember that God asks us to bring our tithe into the storehouse. The tithe is 10%. The storehouse is the church. If we are made in God’s image, we need to also tithe 10% to our personal storehouse, a savings account.
It’s really simple. Every decision that you make creates either an increase or decrease in your personal life. Therefore, every financial decision that you make will also create an increase or a decrease in your money. You work every day, why not tithe to yourself? This is biblical. Tithing is a biblical practice! Make it a habit to pay yourself 10%.
Money is like a plant, it starts out as a tiny seed. Plant a seed of investing in yourself and see how it works for you. Then plant the mental seed of being faithful to yourself. Pay yourself faithfully by saving 10% of your money and you will be surprised how God will give the increase.
Start right now. Pay yourself at least 10% or more and put it away for a whole year. Try to make it your habit.
This year I will start investing in myself. All the money I make this year, I will tithe to myself 10% or more. I will put it in a saving account so that I can invest in my future. I will not tamper with my money. I will save it so that I can invest in the things that I believe in. This will be my personal challenge. I will love myself. I will be better to myself than I have been in past years. I will not give my money away foolishly or invest in things that are not beneficial to me financially.
In 2018, I will save my money so that my money will make me wealthy! I understand that the secret to increasing my financial assets means I must grow my personal finances. I realize that I don’t need to buy everything that I see. If I get a raise this year, I will live off of what I was making in 2017. I will invest all savings that I accumulate in 2018 in 2019. It is my job to be good to myself! I must learn to love myself. I must learn to save my money. I must learn to take control of my finances. No longer will I spend more than I make. I’m looking forward to being financially responsible in 2018.
God can pour on blessings in astonishing ways so that you’re ready for anything and everything, more than just ready to do what needs to be done. This most generous, God who gives seed to the farmer that becomes bread for your meals, is more than extravagant with you. He gives you something you can then give away, which grows into full-formed lives and is robust in God.
