For this boy I prayed, and the LORD has given me my petition which I asked of Him. So I have also dedicated him to the LORD; as long as he lives he is dedicated to the LORD.” And he worshiped the LORD there (1 Samuel 1:27-28).
One of the very important tasks and responsibilities that the Lord entrusts to every Christian parent is to pray consistently for their children. This responsibility is so much more important than probably any of us as parents really understand. Praying for our children daily needs to be a high priority.
Parents, the following prayer is a very fruitful prayer to pray for each of your children every day.
Dear heavenly Father, thank you, Lord, for the gift my child is to me, to our family, to the church, and to the kingdom of God. Bless my child today, expand their territory! Cause your hand to be upon them mightily and keep them from evil that they may not cause pain (1 Chronicles 4:9-10)!
Help me this day to be the full blessing to them that you want me to be. Fill their day today with joy, peace, grace, and encouragement. Help them to walk in your love, joy, and peace. Help them spend the time in your Word and in prayer that You desire (Psalm 1, Psalm 119:18; Philippians 4:6-7; and 1 Thessalonians 5:17).
Help them to put you first. Help them not make any graven images. Help them not take your name in vain. Help them remember the Sabbath day to keep it holy. Help them honor their father and mother today. Help them value life. Help them not commit adultery. Help them not steal. Help them tell the truth. Help them not covet (Exodus 20:1-17).
