The 135th Session of the Liberia Annual Conference of the African Methodist Episcopal (AME) Church has successfully concluded following several days of worship, reflection, and strategic deliberations that reaffirmed the Church’s mission and future direction in Liberia and beyond.
Convened under the episcopal leadership of Bishop Paul J.M. Kawimbe, the Conference brought together clergy, laity, and delegates from across the connection in a spirit of unity, faith, and purpose. The gathering served as both a spiritual revival and an administrative platform for advancing the work of the Church.
The Conference opened with powerful and spirit-filled worship services that set the tone for the session. Throughout the proceedings, participants experienced deep moments of prayer, preaching, and sacred music, fostering renewal and recommitment to Christian service.
In his Episcopal Address, Bishop Kawimbe underscored the importance of disciplined leadership, church growth, and spiritual accountability. His message challenged the Church to remain steadfast in its mission while adapting to contemporary realities.
The host congregation, Eliza Turner Memorial AME Church, was widely commended for its exceptional hospitality, organization, and dedication, providing a welcoming and well-coordinated environment for all attendees.
Key administrative activities included the presentation and adoption of annual reports from presiding elders and various departments of the Church, including the Women’s Missionary Society (WMS), Young People’s Division (YPD), and the Lay Organization. The Conference also addressed matters of appointments, assessments, and strategic engagements to strengthen the Church’s operations.
A major emphasis of this year’s session was on evangelism, membership growth, youth engagement, and expanding the Church’s presence in underserved and rural communities. Delegates reaffirmed their commitment to advancing the AME Church’s mission across Liberia and the African continent.
The Conference also provided opportunities to recognize outstanding service among clergy and laity, including the retirement of while fostering meaningful fellowship and reinforcing the connectional bond of the Church.
As the 135th Session concluded, a renewed vision emerged—focused on unity, strong stewardship, leadership growth, and greater societal influence. The Conference serves as a testament to the resilience and progressive outlook of the AME Church in Liberia.
