In a time where young people face many challenges and distractions, it becomes increasingly important to create spaces where they can grow spiritually, learn about their faith, and remain connected to the church. The JAM Sessions were started with this vision in mind: to keep young people rooted in Christ while keeping them informed and engaged in the life of the church and the Lay Organisation.
The idea behind the JAM Sessions was simple but meaningful. We wanted to create a platform where young people gather regularly, learn together, and strengthen their spiritual foundation. Many young people desire guidance, mentorship, and knowledge about their faith and the JAM Sessions provide an opportunity to explore these aspects in a supportive and welcoming environment.
These Sessions also help young people understand our denomination better. Often, young members do not fully understand the history, structure, and teachings of our church, and through these sessions, we provide lessons about our denomination, helping young people appreciate their identity within the church and understand the responsibilities that come with it.
Another important aspect of the JAM Sessions is communication. The sessions serve as a platform to keep members informed about what is happening within our church community. Through this we build unity and ensure that members, especially the youth, remain connected to the broader work of the church. When young people are informed, they feel included and are more likely to participate in church activities and leadership.
What is especially encouraging is the growing participation in these sessions. Initially, the focus was primarily on young people, but it is inspiring to see clergy and senior members of the Lay Organization joining the calls every Sunday evening. Their presence brings wisdom, encouragement, and guidance, creating a beautiful intergenerational space where knowledge and experience are shared freely.
This level of support demonstrates that the church values the spiritual development of its young people. When leaders and experienced members take time to engage with the youth, it sends a powerful message that the next generation matters and that their growth in Christ is a priority.
The JAM Sessions have therefore become more than just meetings. They are a place of learning, fellowship, mentorship, and spiritual encouragement. They remind young people that they are not alone in their faith journey and that the church is a community that walks together in Christ.
We extend a special word of appreciation to our Bishop Henry Allen Belin III, and President Libertha Mutambo for their continued leadership and support. Their encouragement and commitment to the growth of the church and its young people sustains this initiative. Strong leadership helps create an environment where new ideas can flourish and where young people feel empowered to serve.
As the JAM Sessions continue to grow, we pray that they will remain a beacon of spiritual growth, unity, and learning for young people across the District. By investing in the youth today, we are strengthening the church of tomorrow.
