Worship with my Son in the Ministry

Bishop David R. Daniels

I worshipped with one of my son-in-the-ministry, the Reverend Dr. Cassius Levan Barclay, pastor of St. Mark African Methodist Episcopal Church, in Pomaria, South Carolina, on Sunday, September 14, 2025.

It was an honor to attend a special service on Social Action Sunday 2025 at one of our churches, St. Mark AME Church, where Congressman James E. Clyburn was the guest speaker. As a long-time supporter and friend, I was thrilled to see him and catch up with him. What made the event even more special was his surprise request to speak together, which allowed us to share our thoughts and perspectives with the congregants.

What struck me most about Congressman Clyburn was his incredible leadership and dedication to public service. His commitment to inclusivity, compassion, and excellence is truly inspiring, and it’s clear that he has made a lasting impact on the lives of many people.

I was also delighted to see two of his daughters,  Jennifer Clyburn-Reed and Angela Clyburn, in attendance, and it was wonderful to witness the love and support they share as a family. Their presence added a personal touch to the event and highlighted the importance of family and community.

Congressman Clyburn’s leadership and legacy serve as a powerful reminder of the impact one person can have on the world. His tireless efforts to promote justice, equality, and opportunity for all are a testament to his character and vision. His mentee, Antjuan Seawright, introduced him. It was a powerful yet personal introduction by Congressman Clyburn to this younger generation.

I’m grateful for the opportunity to have been a part of this special event and to have had the chance to connect with Congressman Clyburn and his family. His presence and message were a blessing to all who attended, and I’m sure his words will continue to inspire and motivate us for years to come.
