The African Methodist Episcopal Church International Health Commission (AMEC IHC), writes to inform members of the African Methodist Episcopal Church Congregation and Friends, of the Natural Disasters experienced by the 20th Episcopal District.

The 20th Episcopal District located in Mozambique, East Africa, under the leadership of Bishop Gregory Eason, faced the disastrous and deveasting, Tropical Cyclone Jude on March 10th, 2025. Cyclone Jude has displaced families within the 20th Episcopal District, causing up to 16 deaths, over 50 injuries, and catastrophic damage to communities, churches, schools, and transportation systems. The district now stands in need of support. They are in need of food, building materials, clothes, and school items. You can help secure these items for those in need by sharing a $20 donation via Cashapp or Zelle. The 20th District has experienced back to back natural disasters, as on December 30th, 2024, the province of Nampula in the 20th Episopal District located in Mozambique was struck by Tropical Cyclone Dikeledi.

While onland, Cyclone Dikeledi brought on intense rain and flooding, uprooting families and residents within the area. pi This resulted in the collapse of the Samaria AME Church, who was still suffering the effects of the 2019 Tropical Cyclone Idai. In addition to the extreme loss to the building of Samaria AME Church, the Pastoral Staff and members of the congregation were immediately affected as well. Cyclone Dikeledi carved a path of destruction as it made its way through Mozambique Channel, the Tropical Cyclone ending on January 17th, 2025.

Immense relief efforts are needed in order to help this specific district in need, as they work to recuperate their communities in the face of repeated disaster. Please note the ways to support and assist to the 20th Episcopal District via donation:
