Retirement Celebration of Presiding Elder Lloyd Washington, Jr. and Mrs. Terry Washington

On June 16, 2018, members of the Eighth District gathered from near at Allen Chapel AME Church in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, where the Rev. Demetrese Phillips serves as the host pastor, to celebrate the retirement of Presiding Elder Lloyd Washington, Jr. and Mrs. Terry Washington, District Consultant. The celebration was hosted by the Western New Orleans Baton Rouge District, where the Rev. Bland Washington serves as presiding elder and Mrs. Brenda Washington serves as the district consultant.
The Rev. Otis S. Lewis, presiding elder of the Western New Orleans Greensburg District served as the worship leader. After the prelude and processional, the Rev. Keith Sanders led the call to worship and the Rev. Herman Kelly, the pastor of Bethel AME Church in Baton Rouge led the hymn of praise.
After the prayer, scripture, and a solo by the Rev. Allen Williams, the pastor of Bethel AME Church in DeQuincy, Louisiana, tributes, expressions, and words of commendations were given by the Rev. Herman Spear, the president of the Ministerial Alliance and from the Western New Orleans Baton Rouge District by Presiding Elder Bland Washington and District Consultant Brenda Washington; Louisiana Conference WMS President, Mrs. Vicki Smith; Louisiana Conference YPD, Mrs. Courtney J. Thomas; Louisiana Conference Lay Organization, Mrs. Marie Gauthier; Alexandria-Thibodaux District Presiding Elder, the Rev. Gwendolyn Snearl; Alexandria-Thibodaux District pastors, the Rev. Kecia Lewis; Thibodaux District Lay Organization, Mr. Raymond Morris; Episcopal president of the WMS, Mrs. Brenda Hurst; Episcopal Lay President, Mr. Melvin Davis; Eighth District Sons of Allen, Mr. Robert Chambliss; president of the Eight District Presiding Elder’s Council, the Rev. Michelle R. Goodloe; and the spiritual father in the ministry of Presiding Elder Lloyd Washington, the Rev. Dr. Samuel H. Boyd, Sr., the pastor of Pearl Street AME Church in Jackson, Mississippi.
The keynote remarks were delivered by Bishop Julius H. McAllister, Sr., presiding prelate of the Eighth District. The retirement special offering was administered by the Rev. Roger Robertson, the Rev. Ritney Castine, the Rev. Doris Bean, and the Rev. Lloyd Guy. The Rev. Joe Chaney extended the invitation to Christian Discipleship and the altar call. Sister Debra Wheeler gave the announcements. Presiding Elder Lloyd Washington and Mrs. Terry Washington gave their expressions of thanks, praise, and many blessings to all who assisted in any way to this auspicious occasion in their retirement today.
