Mid-West Annual Conference RAYAC Hosts Revival

With the theme “RAYAC Got Something to Say,” the Richard Allen Young Adult Council of the Mid-West Annual Conference in the 5th Episcopal District held a one-night Pentecost revival on March 8, 2019. The Friday Night Live Worship Service was led by clergy and lay from Kansas, Missouri, and Nebraska. It was a Holy Ghost-filled time of music, word, and prayer.

The Reverend Kirkpatrick Tyler, the pastor of St Mark AME Church in Los Angeles, preached the revival sermon from Amos 7:7-9 entitled, “If These Walls Could Talk.” He suggested that we’re preoccupied with walls: those that supposedly keep our nation safe, those we build in and around our churches, and those that we construct around our hearts and minds to keep us safe from pain. He preached that God is capable of protecting us and that our fears hold us back from loving and being loved. The Rev. Tyler said that God preserves a remnant to keep us safe and alive after difficult times.

The Mid-West Annual Conference RAYAC instituted a War Room. This unique altar call invited clergy of all ages to come to the altar to pray with and for the congregants on issues of mental health, financial and job security, gender identity and sexuality, self-expression and conformity, and health issues. Elevated Praise, a worship choir based in Kansas City, sang several selections. The power of God filled Trinity AME Church, where the Rev. Steven A Cousin is the pastor and our hearts were truly revived.
