Lansdowne District Conference

Lansdowne District Conference

By Rev. Clive Pillay, 15thEpiscopal District Field Representative

The fifth session of the re-organized Lansdowne District, under the leadership of Presiding Elder Abraham Neethling, was hosted by the Rev. Vernon and Mrs. Denise Etson and the members of Agnes Hildebrand AME Church in Hanover Park over the weekend of March 8th. Hats off to them for making this historic event possible with their 114 members and being in the most volatile part of the Cape, where not even Google would venture to include them on their maps.

They approached the pastor and members of the first church in the District, the Rev. Alistair Didloff and the kind folks of Metropolitan Mitchells Plain, to host an excellent District Conference that ran as smooth as anyone could expect.

From Friday evening through Sunday, the program was of a high standard. The late Presiding Elder Dawid Moses was honored, the Minister’s Spouses made a special financial presentation to all deacons on the Board of Christian Education and the presence of Bishop David R. and Supervisor Dr. Irene M. Daniels and Bishop Ronnie and Supervisor Carolyn Brailsford. Bishop Daniels preached Sunday morning.
