Annual One Day with the Lay

By Elbert N. Davis, NCCLO President, Second Episcopal District

On the fourth Sunday in March, the North Carolina Conference Lay Organization (NCCLO) held its “Annual One Day with the Lay” fundraising event.  Representatives from all 79 churches of the conference were present. This is a significant fundraising event for the NCCLO. Each participating church appointed a King or Queen to represent them, encouraging local support through various fundraising initiatives. During the event, their achievements were celebrated by crowning the winners of first, second, and third place from the participating churches. Additionally, scholarships totaling $2,000, alongside $300 book scholarships, were awarded.

The North Carolina Conference Lay Organization encompasses approximately 1,200 members, with each of the 79 churches having active Lay Organizations and actively engaged in NCCLO initiatives. The leadership team, comprising the President, First Vice President, Second Vice President, and Third Vice President, is responsible for promoting open communication among the churches. The NCCLO  conducts monthly Lay Organization meetings, each featuring a relevant training session.

The NCCLO maintains strong collaborative relationships with its members, pastors, and presiding elders. We are enthusiastic about the opportunities that lie ahead as we embark on this new year and the opportunity to serve God!
