AME University has reaffirmed its commitment to social responsibility by extending critical educational support to children in one of the slum communities and its environment. The initiative, held on Thursday, brought hope and encouragement to nearly 200 school-aged children who face daily struggles due to economic hardship and limited access to basic learning materials.
Led by the President of AME University, the Rev. Dr. Alvin E. Attah, the University distributed essential school supplies, including backpacks, copybooks, pencils, pens, and other learning materials. The gesture was warmly welcomed by the children, their families, and community leaders, many of whom described the support as both timely and transformative.
Dr. Attah, extending greetings on behalf of Bishop and Supervisor Paul J. M. Kawimbe, emphasized the University’s enduring mission to combine academic excellence with social impact. “Education is the most powerful tool we can use to change the world, and it begins with giving every child the means to learn,” he remarked, reaffirming AME University’s role as a beacon of hope and empowerment for marginalized communities.
Parents and local leaders praised the University for its leadership and dedication to community service, noting that the provision of school supplies not only eases the burden on struggling families but also inspires children to pursue education with renewed determination. One community elder observed, “Many of these children go to school without the basic tools they need. This gesture will motivate them and remind them that they, too, are valued.”
This outreach initiative underscores AME University’s broader vision of contributing meaningfully to national development through education, compassion, and service. As the children departed with their new school supplies, their joy reflected the profound impact that targeted interventions can have in transforming lives and shaping brighter futures.
