100 Years Old and Still Preaching!
Rev. Rita Mishoe Paige, Pastor

Star Hill AME Church

While celebrating “Driggus Family Day” on September 25 at the Historic Star Hill AME Church in Dover, where the Rev. Rita Mishoe Paige is pastor, Elder Andrew Spellman delivered a wisdom-filled message on sin and salvation. He reminded the congregation of Romans 6:23 and that “the wages of sin is death but the gift of God is eternal life.” He also provided lessons and wisdom about marriage and other areas of life. He even told the congregation that “No matter what’s going on in the world today, don’t worry too much about it. Just keep your eyes focused on Jesus.”

Elder Spellman was born in 1916 and was married for 73 years before his wife, Maude, passed in 2012. He founded and pastored Ellendale’s Fire Baptized Holiness Church of God of the Americas from 1958-2007. His oldest daughter, Miriam C. Harris, has succeeded him as pastor of the church. Elder Spellman informed the nearly 80 people in attendance that he still preaches every fourth Sunday.
