This grant was submitted by Dr. Abdoulaye Thiam and Dr. Philemon Kirui as Principal Investigators. Dr. Tyrell Carr now joins them as a Co-Principal Investigator
The Proposal, “Dose-Rate Dependence in Space Radiation Cancer,” has been selected for a 2026 NASA MUREP MPLAN prize of $50,000. The topic falls under NASA’s Human Research Program and concerns how the rate of space radiation exposure affects cancer risk for astronauts on long missions. More than 400 innovators registered for the competition nationally, and Allen University is among the institutions selected for the award.
