Honour and Glory Belong to God

Honour and Glory Belong to God

By Thato Mosebi, Contributing Writer

In life, we tend to make our possessions our gods and sometimes do so without even realizing it. We tend to look down on other people who do not have a car, a house in their name, furniture, laptops, or phones. We look down at them and don’t regard any contribution they make, simply because we weigh them as not on our level.

We go to the extent of thinking less of other people because they are not as educated as we are. Instead of using our knowledge to build others, we use it to belittle them. We make our education our god.

We need to understand that whatever you have now, God can take it away from you at any time. We need to understand that what we have is by God’s grace. We need to understand that our possessions are nothing compared to having God in our lives.

Our possessions are there to make life easier for us. They are there to assist us. They do not have power and do not replace God. They do not replace God’s people. Our possessions serve God by assisting our daily needs. We need to understand that they have no power over us. They do not make us powerful.

Matthew 6:33 says, “But strive first for the kingdom of Godand hisrighteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.” God demands honour, glory, and praise for who He is and for who we are in Him. Honour God with your life. Realize that in the eyes of God, we are all the same, equal and loved.Let your possessions honour God by helping you, just as you honour God by helping others.

Joshua 24:15 says, “Now if you are unwilling to serve the Lord, choose this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your ancestors served in the region beyond the River or the gods of the Amorites in whose land you are living; but as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.”
