Allen University proudly announces the appointment of Mr. Marques Graham as its new Director of Bands, marking a dynamic new era for the university’s acclaimed music program. A respected educator, accomplished musician, and visionary leader in the world of HBCU band performance, Mr. Graham brings 25 years of experience and a legacy of excellence to Allen University.
Joining us from Wiley University, Mr. Graham is recognized for building and revitalizing collegiate band programs, including the successful launch of two HBCU bands and the revitalization of a third. He has conducted halftime performances for the NFL’s Jacksonville Jaguars on three occasions and the NCAA National Basketball Championship. He’s earned numerous accolades, including being named Teacher of the Year and receiving the Best New Instrumental Program award from Florida Leaders Magazine.
Mr. Graham has made history by leading the smallest-ever school to perform in the prestigious Honda Battle of the Bands competition. He is no stranger to Allen University. During the COVID-19 pandemic, he contributed to the Band of Gold’s game day performance with a flawless arrangement of “Stairway to Heaven.” His focus is on emphasizing program development and creating a collaborative, performance-driven environment at AU.
Mr. Graham is a proud graduate of South Carolina State University and Full Sail University. He is also a life member of Kappa Kappa Psi, National Honorary Band Fraternity.

Mr. Graham begins his role effective immediately and is already preparing for an exciting 2025–2026 performance season.
