St. John Continues Partnership with Habitat for Humanity

Tami McGhee, Ninth Episcopal District

Even in the middle of a pandemic Habitat for Humanity of Madison County continues to provide affordable housing to those in need.  Habitat recently cleared 8 acres of land to build over 30 homes and a community park.  The subdivision is in Northeast Huntsville off Meridian Street near J. F. Drake State Community & Technical College.

St. John AME Church has been a strong building partner with Habitat for Humanity for almost 25 years and in that time has built just as many homes. St. John will continue to partner with other local churches and organizations to build a home at this location in the fall.  There have been a few changes due to COVID-19, regarding volunteering and building. However, volunteers are still needed.
