Interview with Youth Delegate Khazi Guwa

By Mrs. Maggie Grootboom de Bruyn, 15th Episcopal District TCR Field Representative

Ms. Khazi Guwa is a Youth Delegate from the Eastern Cape Conference.

Thank you for giving me this opportunity to share or talk with my fellow Brethren in Christ to me is an Honour.

  1. Impression: Initially I have mix emotions on today as I know that there are some technical challenges in some of our areas in the conference, but it as joy when I noted the number of people that have connected to make the 15th District delegation more visibly at the beginning of the quadrennial.
  2. Highlights: Possibilities of a blended hybrid convention against all the challenges of COVID-19 has posed just a week before Cape Town venue was set in motion.
  3. Positives: I was so impressed with the technology advancement, and I have learned a lot through it, but it has created more opportunities of separatism as overseas Districts are well-advanced and therefore can participate in a hybrid platform
  4. Negative: Inability to really engage in the session deliberations due to virtual distance and sometimes network experience. Second, time difference can be challenge as its already close to midnight this side and therefore concentration is at its lowest affecting intellectual engagements with the reports presented thus far.
  5. Africa: COVID-19 has just proved that the new strategic direction for Africa is needed as  its, has proved that much as we are one there are still many bridges to cross. Africa needs to have clear agenda within connectionalism.
