Christ Our Redeemer AME Church Funds Future Scholars

Christ Our Redeemer (COR) AME Church in Irvine, California, invested $35,000 in scholarships and gifts to deserving high school and college students. The scholarships range from $500 to $5,000.

The students are required to submit a five-page paper on faith-based social justice initiatives, volunteer for a social service project at the church, and attend worship. In addition to the scholarship fund, COR grants $25 to all graduating high school students and $100 to all graduating college students.

The Rev. Mark Whitlock, the senior minister says, “The Scholarship Fund is funded by the members of the church and corporate sponsors. We track the graduates to determine how they are applying the knowledge gained from school. Many of them are making a measurable positive difference in the community!” COR has over 20 ministries for youth and college students.
