Going to the People

Over the months of March, April and May, Bishop and Supervisor Brailsford visited 96 churches in the 20th District. This article shows a portion of their Journey.
This was the 96th church that we have visited in the 20th Episcopal District in three of the five countries—Malawi, Zimbabwe, Tanzania, Uganda, and part of Mozambique. We worshiped with Pastor Passion Musa and the wonderful people of Nkulumane AME Church in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe. It was a spirit-filled worship experience as she delivered a powerful word and the music by the choirs of all ages was outstanding. They are laying the foundation for a larger church. The church is growing and filled with many teens and young adults. Praise and worship in Africa are unique! Praise the Lord!
This was a great Leadership Summit of training and meetings for the Northeast Zimbabwe Annual Conference. We met at Bright Temple AME Church in Harare. The participation was great. People were eager to learn and to provide input. T.E.A.M. 20th is becoming stronger. We are the Triumphant Twentieth Episcopal District. Praise the Lord!
Praise the Lord! What an amazing day at Webster Temple AME Church in Harare, Zimbabwe! Sixty-four, that’s right—64, persons gave their lives to the Lord today and were saved. What a mighty God we serve! Hallelujah! I know the angels in heaven are rejoicing. I thank God for a mighty move of God’s power in the entire worship experience of singing, dancing, praising, worshipping, and preaching of the word. It was a Holy Spirit-filled good time. I want to thank Presiding Elder Peter Rugeda and the Harare District pastors and members for a great day together. We are T.E.A.M. 20th of the Triumphant Twentieth Episcopal District of the AMEC. Praise God! Hallelujah!
This was a very busy day in Harare, Zimbabwe-Africa. We visited six churches today—three in the city and three in the rural areas. It was a very rewarding experience as usual. The people were so happy to have us visit with them. One of the churches visited was Sims Chapel AME Church, the second oldest AME Church in Zimbabwe, built by Bishop Sims in 1935!
Praise the Lord! This was the last full day of medical, dental, and eye services provided to the people of Lilongwe and Salima, Malawi—Southeast Africa. We were in the rural area to reach the most underserved of God’s children. Thanks to T.E.A.M. 20th and Team USC, more than 2,000 persons were served during the five days of this Health and Education Initiative. This was a phenomenal experience as so many lives were touched and changed through wholistic ministry provided by loving and caring individuals. We are looking forward to doing this kind of ministry again and again, in Malawi and the remaining countries of the 20th Episcopal District. Lord, we thank you for being a part of this mighty move of God—the church beyond the walls (Matthew 25:31-46)!
