Did you Know? Information on the Connectional Debutante and Masters Commission (CDMC)

By Mrs. Lyndajo Watson, Connectional CDMC Administrator

Did you know that I am the new Christian Debutante and Master Commission (CDMC) Connectional Administrator? I was born in the AME Church and have been a member of the 12th Episcopal District all my life. My bishop and supervisor are the Rt. Rev. Michael and Mrs. Cordelia Mitchell.

Did you know that the best-kept secret in the AME Church is the CDMC, which is a commission of the Christian Education Department and has been in existence since 1952? The first Christian Debutante and Master Dedication ceremony was held in Chicago, Illinois, at the 34th Quadrennial Session of the General Conference. A ceremony has been held at every general conference since then. Our motto is “Daily Magnify Christ!”

Did you know that there are 10 districts represented in our Commission? They include Districts 2, 4, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, and 13. My goal is that all districts will be represented, including those outside the United States.

Did you know that our reach includes ages 5-22? The Dedication Ceremony allows youth ages 16-22 to be introduced into a rite of passage to the church society and to dedicate their lives to further and greater Christian service.

Did you know that the CDMC is one of the best ministries in the AME Church that teaches our young people? Its curriculum includes a wide range of topics like Just Say Know, Knowledge is Power, How Great is our God, It’s the God in Me, Anybody Wanna Pray with Me, I am a Promise, I’ve Got Something to Say, and Financial Fitness.

Did you know that we have a social media person who is a former debutante? Her name is Shantel Sims and she has brought us into the world of technology. We have our own website, www.cdmc-ame.org, and we are on Facebook and Twitter. Want to see a picture from 1972 in Dallas, Texas? Check out our website. You just might see yourself if you were a debutante or master.

Did you know that for more information about the Christian Debutante and Master Commission and its programs, I’m only a click or phone call away? Reach me at msdmcfame@sbccglobal.net or 501-682-3013. Remember to “Daily Magnify Christ!”
