Baltimore and DC-Metro Churches Bless the 16th District

The first weekend in January 2017, Bishop E. Anne Henning Byfield visited several churches in the DC-Metro area of the 2nd Episcopal District. She was welcomed with open arms and giving spirits as the congregations and groups she visited poured their love out to the people of the 16th Episcopal District.

On Saturday, January  7, the  Baltimore Conference Women In Ministry held a reception at Mount Calvary AME Church. Bishop Byfield currently serves as the Chairperson for the General Board Commission on Women in Ministry. During the welcome, host pastor the Rev. Dr. Anne Lightner-Fuller showed the bishop 200 pairs of new name brand shoes to be given to the children of the 16th District. Other gifts during the luncheon were presented to Bishop Byfield and the people of the 16th District. The luncheon ended with a stirring prayer for the people and the work. The leadership present included—the Rev. Rae-Lynn Kingeter, WIM Baltimore Conference President; the Rev. Anna Mosby, 2nd District President; the Re. Angelique Mason, WIM Connectional Officer; the Rev. Cynthia Harvin, former WIM Connectional Officer, the Rev. Dr. Anne Lightner-Fuller, the host pastor; the Rev. Dr. Stanley Fuller; and the Rev. Dr. Cecelia Williams Bryant, Retired Episcopal Supervisor.

On Sunday, January 8, Bishop Byfield preached at the 8:00 am service of Allen Chapel in Washington, DC, where the Rev. Dr. Michael Bell is the pastor. Her sermon was entitled, “It’s Between You and God.” At the service, financial gifts were received for the 16th District.

At 11:30 am on the same day, Bishop Byfield preached at Empowerment Temple in Baltimore, Maryland, where the Rev. Dr. Jamal Harrison Bryant serves as pastor. Her sermon was entitled, “Laugh, Even When It’s Not Funny.” After the service, the Church participated in packaging and delivering 25,272 meals that will feed 70 children for 1 year! Financial gifts were received for the 16th District.

Bishop Byfield will begin the 2017 Annual Conference with the Haiti Annual Conference, February 8-12, held at  St. Paul AME Church, Port au Prince, the oldest AME Church established outside of the United States. The Rev. Francois-Albert Murat is the pastor and the Rev. Jean Joel Maurice is the Presiding Elder. Retired Senior Bishop John and the Rev. Dr. Cecelia Williams Bryant will be special guests.
